Ruby on Rails & Burlap Bags

Luft & Co Design

Luft & Co. is a relatively new company that distributes burlap bags all over North America. Their business model is based on the idea that companies should be using burlap in place of plastic, as burlap is stylish, cheap, and much easier on the environment. For their website, they wanted a fairly minimal look that wouldn’t draw attention away from their beautiful bags.

Due to the requirements of the project we decided to build Luft & Co’s web application using Ruby on Rails – the breakthrough framework that famously powers twitter. Using Rails gave us the speed and flexibility needed for rapid development – while still ensuring that future development would be as painless as possible. We’ll hopefully be developing phase II of the site within a few months that will add an online store to the current site.
